THIS TRANSITION IS HARDER THAN I EXPECTED.

So I did it! I'm here in the city. I have a place to live. Work is awesome. NY is awesome. Everything is good. Right? Well kinda. Transitioning into the city alone has been hard.

Moving to the city I expected the same social life that I had in college, which isn't the case. I don't really have anyone in the city. And that realization hit me hard. Where do most people find their friends? School or work. I'm at the awkward space in between them both. Leaving all of my school friends and just starting at work.

Making friends is hard. Hard work. And in NY it seems that everyone already has a group of their own. Do I just go out to the bar by myself? I don't really know the first step in finding new friends in a new city. Facebook? Ugh.

My friend Anna (from Texas) and my friend Shannon (from MAIP) are the only two people that I have really interacted with, but even then following through plans in NY is a challenge in itself.

SO that's the headspace I am in right now. I go to work. Come home and stalk all of my friends on social media until I fall asleep and do it all over again. Creepy... I know. BUT I miss them all! I can't help but to feel forgotten about sometimes.

Maybe this time alone is the time needed for me to center myself. TLC, Taelor Love and Care time. I love a good selfie date. haha.

I'm sure friends will come with time. I just wish that time was sooner than later.

  2. <3 You're so amazing that friendships will happen organically. YOU MADE IT! You set a goal for yourself, busted your ass, and accomplished it. That is MAJOR. I'm thinking of planning a mini weekend trip to come see you- I'll keep you updated!
